Tasks and objectives
Emerging from the 1996 Internet Contents Task Force (ICTF), this working group acts as the voice and representation of the Internet Industry regarding the responsibility for content, specifically self-regulation and child protection. The primary objective is to prevent the proliferation of illegal and harmful content to minors on the Internet.
"Focus on the necessary testing and evaluation of content on the Internet" are the views of Usenet Newsgroups and the implementation of a form of complaints management on behalf of the participating ISPs. The Working Group monitors self-regulation and child protection, but also the legal and political developments regarding the responsibilities and obligations of the provider particularly in respect of minors.
The Working Group also operates in conjunction with the Freiwiliigen Regulation Multimedia (FSM), the Internet Complaint Office Germany to receive complaints from Internet users about illegal content. Such complaints are tested and processed after the complaint is received by the eco complaint hotline. The complaints can be sent by e-mail to hotline@eco.de or via the Internet portal of the appeal body beschwerdestelle.de Internet and va a complaint form submitted to eco.
