E-Mail

Objective

The Working Group E-Mail (formerly WG sender authentication) is concerned with the current developments in the various technical methods of e-mail sender authentication and other technical e-mail standards.

E-mail sender authentication mechanisms have been debated for some time now and few competing standards have emerged. The level of implementation of all procedures is quite complex and tends to raise more questions than it answers sometimes.

There are now many mechanisms being used extensively.

Topics that are included:

  • DomainKeys / DKIM, SPF / SenderID
  • PGP / GPG, S / Mime
  • Use of reputation systems
  • Efficiency of filtering mechanisms
  • (Automated) Reporting

In short: everything technical on the subject of e-mail around...

  • Assessment of individual success mechanisms
  • Development of best cases for implementation
  • Creation of the common German positions
  • Preparation of the participation in national and international (standardisation) bodies
