Online assessment tools for recruiting

eco’s e-recruiting working group met on 28 October to discuss tools for e-assessment and self assessment in the recruiting process. Joachim Diercks, of CYQUEST, started out by defining e-assessment as “internet-based instruments that predict and evaluate job-relevant variables.” This helps companies assess whether an applicant will match the required profile.

Self assessment lets potential applicants anonymously test how their skills and personality translate into job-relevant metrics. Such tools have been implemented by Gruner + Jahr, Tchibo, and Bertelsmann, among others. Thimas Fiskbaek, of ANTED International, explained how different methods of testing and analysing applicants support a fair assessment and hiring process, looking at both soft and hard skills alike.
