Petition for an open Internet

As the US regulating authority has confirmed its support of net neutrality, activists and civil rights organizations throughout Europe have initiated a petition for a similar declaration in Europe. Their petition closely resembles the six principles of net neutrality as put forth by the US Federal Communications Commission.

It asks for the right to: access, send, and receive content of their choice; run any content, application, or service; and use any software or hardware (that does not harm the network). The petition also seeks to enshrine competition between providers, an Internet free of discrimination, and transparency by providers about their network management practices.
